Frequently Asked Questions
Still have some questions about home automation? Here is a list of questions that we regularly encounter. If you don't find the answer to your question please don't hesitate to contact us.
Q: How long will it take to complete a
home automation project?
A: This, of course depends on the size of the project, but the
average job is normally completed in 1 day.
Q: How disruptive is a home automation
project?
A: Having a home automation system installed will offer almost no
disruption at all to your normal household activities. We may have
to shut off certain lighting circuits for a brief period, and in
rare cases we may have to shut off the main panel for a minute or
two. Then of course when the installation is complete, we will need
your involvement in programming the system, but that's the fun part!
Q: What is involved in a home
automation project?
A: We will be installing most of the equipment in one central
location and will be spending most of our time there. We will also
be running wires to certain components placed around the house like
the keypads, switches, and sensors. We will then program the system
to suit your needs and show you everything you need to know to
operate it successfully and get the most out of your new system. We
will then leave with the satisfying feeling of another job well-done
and another happy customer. And if you need anything, we'll be just
a phone call away.
Q: If I have cameras, what will keep someone else from
spying on my family (either by the monitoring company or by someone
hacking the system?)
A: If you set your password to a combination of letters and numbers
that no one could guess, this would be virtually impossible. Unless
someone knows your user name AND password, they cannot access the
system. The monitoring company cannot access your system directly,
they only receive whatever images you want your system to send them
in the event of an alarm. In addition, you can always turn the
cameras off at any time, or program your system to keep them off
between certain hours.
Q: What happens in a power outage?
A: The system is equipped with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS)
and battery backup which ensures reliable operation of all system
components regardless of whether the power is on or off. If nothing
else is working in your house, your home automation system will be!
Q: Are there manual overrides if
something goes wrong?
A: There is always manual control for all home automation
components. The thing to remember with home automation, is that you
are not giving up control of anything, you are gaining
greater control.
Q: How much can I save on my heating / cooling /
electricity bills?
A: While there are several variables that would have to be figured
in to the equation, like the size of the house, the type of heating
/ cooling system, the type and amount of insulation, the type of
windows installed, and even the amount of trees you have, a home
automation system is guaranteed to save you money. Generally
speaking, it is possible to save 25% or more on your energy bills
with a properly programmed automation system.
Q: Is the work guaranteed?
A: We stand behind all of our work as well as the products we sell.
We use only the best quality products, many with lifetime manufacturer's
warranties. We also offer extended service plans with full parts and
labor coverage for extra
protection.
Q: Are you licensed and insured?
A: Yes we are. We hold state licenses for Burglar Alarms, Fire Alarms, and
Electrical. We also carry full General Liability and Workers
Compensation insurance. We install all of our own jobs so that you
never have to worry about your job being subcontracted out to a
third party.
